This statement is
especially true on the work site, on people riding bicycles and motorcycles and
also for pedestrians walking at night. The reflective properties of the
clothing lie in the vinyl used in the digital fabric printing process which
produces clean sharp lines.
The dye sublimation
printing process that can be used to print on fabrics, paper and plastic
involves high heat, transferring the reflective material which then
permeates the fabric. Once this process is complete the dye is considered
permanent and stands up to washing, drying and extreme wear and tear.
The printing of
various items such as caps, sports bags, hats, jackets and vests take on the
same look as reflective tape but of course presents a more permanent
solution.
The use of what was
then called florescent jackets first became popular in 1964 when railway
workers in Scotland were issued jackets to be worn while doing track repairs,
allowing them to be visible from a distance to train operators. The
method of producing reflective gear has since undergone many changes and
improvements in order to help ensure the safety of:
- Police officers - especially during traffic stops at night and traffic light outages.
- Firemen - visual stripes on many gear parts.
- Crossing guards
- Cyclists - often a torch light or reflective lights are too small for constant visibility.
- Motor Cyclists - studies have indicated that there 33% of accidents would have been prevented if the riders sported high visibility apparel such as a vest or other reflective clothing or satchels.
- Security guards
- Pedestrians - walking at night is less hazardous. (Many people have their dogs set up with reflective gear too.)
- When a car breaks down at night or in low light - it is wise to have a piece of reflective clothing in the trunk to don immediately if anyone is outside of the car.
- Construction Workers - hard hats, caps, jackets, safety vests.
- All terrain vehicle drivers including boaters, snowboarders, cross country skiers (endless list of outdoor activities)
The safety of work
crews and everyday people is foremost on the minds of the staff at Everything Vibrant. For
permanent, reflective words, names, logos and striping Everything Vibrant
has the expertise and professionalism to advise their customers whether on
line, via email, by phone or in person. There are very few fabric items
that can not be printed on with reflective high visibility vinyl for the sake
of safety.
